Zirconia Crowns

Dental crowns are commonly used with implants to replace missing or decayed teeth.

What are Zirconia Crowns?

Zirconia is a member of the titanium family of metals. Because of its strength and resiliency, zirconia crowns are the strongest dental crown option available. They are designed to last for years before needing total and full replacement. They are made to look and even feel like the rest of your natural teeth.

Why might you need Zirconia Crowns?

You might need or want zirconia crowns because you want a stronger restoration. Because zirconia is the strongest crown material currently available, they can last for decades without needing repair or replacement. They are made to completely look like real teeth, so they’re an essential option for people wanting a strong, secure option. You may need to have a dental crown placed if one or more of your teeth have been compromised in any way.

What makes you a candidate for Zirconia Crowns?

Before a zirconia crown can be placed, you’ll need to come in for a consultation and exam. We can determine if a crown is necessary and if so, what material is best suited to you. If you’re interested in zirconia crowns, we are happy to provide this crown material to enhance your smile. Our goal is to help you achieve a full smile at an affordable price.

What are some advantages to getting a Zirconia Crown?

There are many advantages of getting a crown put in place. Some of the advantages of having a Zirconia Crown include:

  • They are very durable and can withstand the forces that come with chewing and biting
  • They are bio compatible which means the body should not reject it
  •  They are long lasting and can last for many years with the proper care and hygiene.
  • They can be easily modified in color, size, and shape
  • They are designed to blend into your natural teeth making them aesthetically pleasing

What is the procedure for getting Zirconia Crowns?

You will first come in and have the tooth prepared to be fitted for the crown. Impressions are made of the tooth and sent to a dental lab. You will go home the same day with a temporary crown. The dental lab will then create a full zirconia crown that is matched to the rest of your dentition. You will come back in to have the temporary crown removed and the zirconia crown placed. The crown is adjusted so that it fits more comfortably when you bite down.
