What is a Kid-Friendly Dentist?

A kid-friendly, family dentist is a professional who is trained in working with children. Children and teens may show anxiety and fear over going to the dentist, especially if they have had a bad experience in the past. Dr. Buccellato is committed to providing a calm, relaxed and kid-friendly experience for your children in our office. We offer a range of pediatric procedures meant for kids.

Why does your child need a Kid-Friendly Dentist?

If your child shows fear and severe anxiety over going to the dentist, they need to have a professional they can trust. Two of the best ways to lessen the fear of going to the dentist is to show your child that you’re not afraid of the dentist as well as working with a kid-friendly provider like Dr. Buccellato. Dr. Buccellato is able to work with children of all ages. It’s important to bring your kids in for bi-annual appointments no matter their age.

What are the benefits of seeing a Kid-Friendly Dentist?

One benefit to working with a kid-friendly dentist is that your children will show less fear when coming in for their appointment. This encourages them to come in for all of their appointments and to receive the care that they need. If you get your children in the habit of coming in to see Dr. Buccellato every six months, you’ll notice it simply becomes a routine for them rather than a panic-inducing endeavor. This means less anxiety for your child and less stress for you as the parent or guardian.

What can you expect during a typical Kid-Friendly Dental appointment?

For typical bi-annual appointments, your child will receive a cleaning and examination. Depending on their age, x-rays may be taken as part of their preventative care treatment. Dr. Buccellato at Alpine Dentistry will come in and perform a thorough examination of the teeth to check for signs of decay, gingivitis and to monitor tooth development. Once complete, a fluoride treatment will be applied to the teeth to further prevent decay. If additional treatment is needed, Dr. Buccellato will discuss this at the checkup appointment. Your child will then be scheduled for a separate appointment for this treatment.

If your child is in need of dental treatment, call our office so that we can get them in to see our kid-friendly dentist right away.
