Implant Crowns

A replacement tooth, called a crown, will be created for you by your dentist and attached to a small metal post, called an abutment. After a short time, your crown will look and function as if it were a natural tooth.

What are Implant Crowns?

An implant crown is a single-tooth replacement supported by a dental implant.  It is the most natural way to replace a single missing tooth. Multiple implants can be “bridged” to replace several missing teeth.  In many situations, it is more cost-effective to replace a tooth in very poor condition rather than to fix it with traditional dentistry.

Why do you need Implant Crowns?

You will need an implant crown if you have recently had an implant placedThe implant does not contain the full crown, so it will need to be made for you. The crown is made differently so that it is added to the connector of the implant itself. Your implant crown can last for many years with proper hygiene and care.

What makes you a candidate for Implant Crowns?

If you have a dental implant, you’re a good candidate for the procedure. Implant crowns are durable and long-lasting, providing years worth of a beautiful smile. To determine what type of crown is necessary, you’ll need to come in for a consultation. We can help determine which procedure is right for you.

What happens during the procedure for Implant Crowns?

After the implant has fully healed, you’ll come back in for the crown to be made and placed. Impressions are made of the area and sent to a local lab. The lab technicians create a beautiful, personalized crown that mimics your natural teeth. The crown is then placed on top of the implant via its connector. The crown is then adjusted for a more comfortable bite. You can expect the crown to last for many years before it will need to be replaced.
